When do you post?
Posting will be done Monday, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings.
I’m new! Where do I start?
Welcome! Start at the beginning, and work your way up! A calendar is on the left sidebar for your convenience.
Are the characters and situations real? Are they based on you?
No to both. However, sometimes inspiration has come my friends and me, or experiences we’ve had.
What do you do for work?
I spent many years working in corporate IT in various management roles before turning to independent consulting. My focuses are in IT and small business improvements. I also run a career coaching and consulting practice. When I have time, I run my Etsy shop (and no, the one named MinneAppleGirl is NOT mine! LOL). So, yeah, a hodgepodge of things.
Why did you start this blog?
I started it because I loved similar blogs, and kept reading how people wanted to see more of them. I love reading blogs like this because its like reading small pieces of a chick-lit book throughout the week.
And honestly, I also started it because I wanted to improve my writing. I’m actually known to be a pretty funny person in real life. However, years of business and IT writing has take it’s toll on my writing style. Often things in my head don’t translate through my fingers and my writing isn’t as funny as what I’m thinking. Practice makes perfect, though, no?
Why so many typos?
Remember, I spent my entire career in IT, so fiction writing is absolutely new to me – this blog is my first attempt. Tell you what – you cut me a slack and don’t expect me to be Tolstoy quite yet, and I’ll work on improving my writing, deal? And hey, telling me when I make a mistake is always welcome! (but please do it nicely!)
What’s up with the apple and spoon?
One of Minneapolis’ favorite sites is our spoonbridge and cherry statue at our outdoor sculpture garden. I put an apple on my rendition, since, well Minne Apple girl and all!
